BILL FURTHER CONSIDERED
EXEMPTION OF OBJECTORS

Further consideration was given by
tho House of Commons in committee
today to tho Military Service (Compul
sion). Bill.
Sir Frederick Banbury (Unionist),
proposed an amendment that there
should be no exemption for conscien
tious objectors unless they had belonged
to anti-war religious denominations be
fore the war started.
Mr Walter Long, president of the Lo
cal Government Board, said that the
Government could not accept the
amendment. It would increase the
difficulties of the tribunals in separat
ing real from shain cases.
The amendment was withdrawn.
