Police Effect Arrests
MELBOURNE, October 3.
Two men, after having spent the
evening at a house in Elsie Street,
Chelsea, about a mile 'from the/ rail-
way station, were attacked by their
hosts and robbed of a sum of money,
and within two hours of the assault
the Chelsea police had arrested three
men.
Stephen Pyne, aged 38 years, and
Charles Bell, aged 40 years, both of
Melbourne, were invited to spend the
evening at a house in Elsie Street by
a man and a woman whom they under-
stood to be his wife. Two other mêh
were there. Shortly before midnight
Pyne and Bell left the house, and were
walking out the front gate, when the
three men, to whom they had been
talking on the most friendly terms only
a few minutes previously, attacked
them. After a fierce struggle, in which
they were kicked on the body and re-
peatedly punched, the two-guests were
overpowered, and robbed of £7 and 4s.
6d. respectively. With their eyes
blackened, and showing other marks
of the assault, they walked to the Chel-
sea police station. The police went to
the house, and arrested three men who
were found in bed. ,
