WATER SUPPLY
Bellerive and Lindisfarne
Estimated Reticulation Cost
At the meeting of the Clarence
Council yesterday, presided over by the
Warden (Councillor W. P. Chapman), a
letter was read from the City Engineer
(Mr. G. O. Smith) giving the following
estimate of the costs of water 'supply
reticulations lor Bellerive and,Lindis-
farne:-Gin., 4iu., and 3in. lines with
valves, fireplugs, etc., Including 10 per
cent, for contingencies: Bellerive,
£17,7G2; Lindisfarne, £14,34G. Total,
£32,108. It concrete pipes were used
iii place of the Gin. and 4in ones, a sav-
ing of £ 1,066 would be effected. The
3in. pipes would have to be of cast
iron, as that size was not made in con-
crete.
The Warden said that Messrs. Hut-
chison and Walker had been making a
survey, and the council was waiting foi
an estimate of tho cost of getting the
water across the Derwent so that thoy
would have something to* place before
the water committee.
