CONSTITUTION COMMISSION
TOO MANY HOSPITALS.
SYDNEY, March 7.
There are too many hospitals wrongly
ilaced in New South Wales, according
to Dr. R.' Dick, Director-General of Pub-
ic-Health, who made the statement this
norning before the Royal Commission
cn the. Constitution. Dr. Dick said that
food roads and adequate ambulance
transport facilities would minimise the
number of hospitals required, as with
(hose facilities hospitals could work effi
tlently over a very large area. In
Queensland"ambulance trollies were pro-
vided which fitted the railway tracks,
¡tnd were used in districts where there
ivas a poor train service.
; Referring to V.D. clinics, Dr. Dick
'said that the Commonwealth paid £4,000
annually to the Státo towards their
maintenance. A point the Statu clo
álrod'to have established was" that the
Commonwealth,should also pay for the
erection of the- clinics.
