CONVENT OP MEROY EFFORT.
- (From Saturday's Late Edition.)
The forbidding weather, which was
against all outdoor functions lo-day,
bad it3 efTect on the attendance at
the Garden Fete at the Convent'
grounds. Balio.rot. .Ea^t, this afternoon,
but there was a fair number of
people present when Mayor Levy formally
opened the proceedings. The
stall-holders and their assistants, as
well as those in charge of affairs made
the best of the conditions, and patrons
the supply of continuous entertain- S
ments, side shows, and others forms of
amusements. Those in charge consisted

Mr .T. J. Shelley (general supervisor), a
Mr M. P. Healey (hon. secretary), and
Miss C. Baker* (assistant secretary).
A fair amount of business was done
at the various stalls'during the afternoon,
patrons being well .satisfied with
