Sydney Wharves.
The' Sydney Harbor Trust controls
four berths, carrying 35 feet, of water
at low water' spring tides; arid capable
of accommodating vessels of 600ft, in
length; ten berths carrying 82ft. of
water and of 000ft. accommodation; five
berths carrying 80ft. of water and of
(JOOft. accommodation; 22 berths carry
ing 28ft. of water and capable of accom
modating vessels ol from 400 to COOft.
In length; 28 berths carrying 22ft. of
water, und of 400ft, accommodation;
and 33 berths, carrying 22ft. of water,
and able to accommodate vessels of
from 200 to 400ft. In length. The berths
with less than 35ft. are being deepened
as required, and tho Sydney Harbor
Trust has under consideration the con
struction of nine more 000ft, berths,
seven af them with a depth of 33ft.
nnd two with a depth of 30ft. The
wharfage scheme west of Dawes Point
will, tako at least 10 years to complete,
and will give about 33,000ft. of new deep
sea wharfage. It is proposed to -gtye. a
depth of 35ft„ or over 'If ' rcqulr'efl rot
these wharves. Some of the berths ad
join, so that a longer and a shorter ship
can bo berthed. For Instance, Dalgety's
frontage holng 1200ft., Is capable of
.berthing a ship like' the Ceramic of
. G75ft.; while nt the 600ft. jetties' two
vossols can overhang. The',, Melbourne
Harbor Trust has kept iri' comrriariloa-
tlph. with Sydney, but the port -Improve
ment scheme here, while under careful'
consideration, Is not yet deflriitely out-
