Small Meals for
Pups
THE first thing when buying your
dog is to find out just how many
meals a day he should be given. If he
is a puppy he will need four (or even
five) small meals, but m he grows
older you can reduce the number to
three and finally two meals a day,
tnereaslnff the amount of food at each
meal in proportion. This is a far more
important point than many realise.
Puppies that are given only one or two
comparatively large meals are inclined
to bolt them down wholesale, stuffing
themselves with more food than their
little tummies can hold comfortably at
one time.
Dors that live a "domesticated" life
and spend most of their time within
doors will probably do best on two
meals a day, with a drink of milk in
the evening. Opinion differs among
experts as to which of the two meals—
morning or evening—should be the
main meal of the day, but it is a very
minor point: what is important is that
the meals should, be strictly regular;
tfcat is, punctually, at the regular feed-
Imr time. Para and working *ws
gfeouid have one good meal at night.
