Bullocks down £2
Bullocks and fat calves were 26/ to 40/ lower
at Newmarket sales last week. Fat cows and
sheep were firm. Fat lambs sold 3/ to 4/ higher.
Pat Bullocks (Wed., Feb.
21). — Many pens of heavy
weights were included In the
yarding of 1530 — 100 more.
Quality was not up to recent
standards as a large propor
tion of the entry comprised
medium mixed cattle. Prime
heavy bullocks, £48/10/ to
£51/10/; extra prime, to
£54/2/6; prime, medium. £43
to £48; j)rime light, £39 to
£42; useful to good trade,
£34 to £38. Approximate
price a 100 lb. (on the hoof) ;

2600 — 33 fewer. Many pens

-Many lots of Hereford bul
locks and steers were entered
in the good quality offering
ol 934 bead. Best bullocks
sold 40/ lower, while prices
lor other grades were 20/

-A small selection of prime
cows were included In the
entry of 1375—90 fewer. Most
of the best drafts were for

and Gippsland areas. Plain

Fat Sheep and -Lambs
(Thurs., Feb. 26). — Ewes,
mainly canning types, com
prised most of (he 5000, sheep
penned — 1000 "fewer. There,
was only a sprinkling of
wethers. Demand was firm.
Quality was generally good
in the penning of 1300 fat
lambs — 1700 fewer. Demand
was keen at values 3/ to 4/
higher.
