NEW PLAYERS TRIED j
INURING the 1936 season, no fewer than |
150 new players were given games j
with League clubs. In all, 417 players |
took part in the matches in which thei
12 clubs were engaged. That nothing!
succeeds like success is proved by thei
fact that Collingwood, with only 29 j
players and five new men, made fewer j
changes than any other team. On the;
other hand, Fitzroy tried 24 new men!
and played 43 men in all. All the other;
teams played between 30 and 40 men, j
but the new blood included in their j
respective totals differs greatly. North
Melbourne tried 19 new players. Essen-,
don 16, Hawthorn 14, St. Kilda and
South Melbourne 12. Geelong 11, Foots-;
cray 10, Carlton, Melbourne and Rich-i
mond nine, and Collingwood five. 1
