Gippsland Admits Yallourn
There was not a dissentient voice when
the Yallourn club applied for admission
to the Gippsland Football League at the
annual meeting. The new club's radius
was confined to the Electricity Commis
sion's area. Messrs. Comber and Ross
were the Yallourn delegates.
As was the case last year the two
weakest clubs in the league, Rosedale
and Stratford, were granted six special
permits. Yallourn applied for three per
mits. These were refused.
It was decided to engage umpires from
Melbourne. Arrangements were left in
the secretary's hands.
A lengthy discussion took place on
the price of members' tickets. Bairns-
dale delegates moved for 10/6; and 3/6
for ladies' tickets. Against this Traral-
gon moved for a 7/6 membership to ¦ad
mit to home and home matches. "The
public helped the League when times
were good," said the secretary, Mr. A.
T. Wasley, "and it is up to the League
to consider the public now when times
are bad." The lower membership fee
will operate.
The competition will consist of home
and home matches. The initial games
will be played on the first Saturday in
May.
For his work during the past season
as secretary and treasurer, Mr. A. T.
Wasley was granted an honorarium of
50 guineas.
The election of officers resulted: —
President, W. Heath (Bairnsdale) ; vice-
presidents, A. Rice (Maffra), M. Phelan
(Traralgon), T. V. Trood (Sale), A.
Ducret (Stratford), A. Aliendi (Rose-
dale) and W. L. More (Yarram); auditor,
L. Colvin (Sale); secretary. A. Wasley
'.Sale); independent tribunal. J. E. Thom
son, L. Staveley and R. Rollaud (Sale).
Messrs. T. Johnson (Baimsdale) and A.
Ducret (Stratford) were appointed life
members in recognition of their services
to the League.
The annual match between the League
and Centra and West Gippsland for
the Pears' Shield (now held by the
Gippsland League) will be staged on the
Traralgon oval.
