Ship News.
On Monday last returned from Macquarie Island,
the schooner Elizabeth and Mary, Capt. BEVERIDGE,
with a cargo of elephant oil. Left her gangs stationed
on the island all well.
On Wednesday arrived the transport ship Dick,
Capt. WILLIAM HARRISON, from Ireland, with a detach-
ment of the 48th Regt, on board. She left the Cove
of Cork the 3d of April; made Rio Janeiro the 28th
of May, and sailed from thence the 11th of June for
this Port ; she lost one soldier (Peter Devoy), who
died unfortunately from a fall ; also, the wife and
child of corporal Armstrong ; Mrs. Armstrong died
the 28th of April ; and her infant, a fine little girl of
8 months old, followed her parent one week after.
The Dick brings no English newspapers that we can
hear of later than to the 25th of March.
On Thursday sailed the brig Active, Mr. Thompson
master, for New Zealand and Otaheite ; to the latter
of which she conveys the Gentlemen lately arrived to
join the Missionary Establishment there.
