of tho barquo Count Molllco, wluch left Towns-
villo a few weeks ago for Rockkampton, arrived
in port in an opon boat. Tlio, captain reports
that on tho night of Saturday last his ship wont
ashore on tho Barrier Reef westward of Capo
Bowling Green, heavy weather prevailing nt
tho timo. Tho remainder of tho crow, who loft
tlio wreck eovcral hours beforo tho captain, havo
not yet arrived.

formation thnt Colonel Owen, of tho Royal
Artillery, has bean appointed to succeed Colonol
French as Commandant of tho Queensland
Defence Force.
