New Slipper Factory Opened At
Beaconsfield
Dandenong Footballer
Breaks Leg In Practice
Match
IN THE FIRST [?] minutes of play
in the practice game arranged by the
Dandenong Football Club last Satur
day, J. Lyon, anew player, who is a
Government inspector at Swallow
and Ariell’s factory and the De
hydration works, was unlucky enough
to break his leg.

ON WEDNESDAY LAST, April
11th, the Grosby Shoe Cos., of Mel
bourne opened a branch slipper fac
tory at Beaconsfield.
This company, following the advice of
the Decentralisation Committee and at
the request of the local A.L.P., has
leased Robert’s Buildings alongside the
Beaconsfield Station, made certain struc
tual alterations and painted internally,
installed a number of machines and
catered generally for the comfort of the
employees.
As yet only a limited number of girls
have been employed, but as these re
ceive the necessary instruction and be
come efficient, others will be engaged.
Before long employment will be avail
able locally for as many women and girls
as required.
BRANCH AT BERWICK NEXT
After becoming established at Bea
consfield, the company intends to open
a branch at Berwick, where it has al
ready an option on a suitable building.
