Dandenong Will Have
Several New Men
DANDENONG held their first practice
match last Saturday and although the in
jury to J. Lyon, who broke his leg, put
a bit of a damper on the day, some fast,
keen play was seen. JStan Hartin, the new
coach, and Jack Kane led the sides, and
there was quite a bit of promising new
material in action. Clarrie Barfoot, who
is out of the army now, will be an acquisi
tion and a railway man who trained with
Richmond, will also strengthen the side.
Jack Ashby is going to be missed from
the centre, but the selectors have anew
player in mind to fill his place. »Main
need at the moment is some big ruck men
to provide balance for the fast, nippy type
which mainly comprise the club’s list.
Dick coach of the juniors, was
there to lend a helping hand.
IN PREPARATION for their opening
match against Clayton at Spring Vale on
May sth, Spring Vale had Oakleigh
C.Y.M.S, out for a practice game last
Saturday. L. -Rowell, the Vale coach,
changed the players at half-time and a
really good “work-out” was held. C'add,
Fry, Watson, Hammond and Pobjoy
shone for the Vale, who won 9.9 to
C.Y.M.S. 3.2.
