RAILWAY APPRENTICES.
In the House of Assembly on Wednes
day the Commissioner of "Public Works
■'(Mr. Hague) told 'Mr, Birrell that the Go
vernment had received 129 applications
from youths 'wishing to be apprenticed in
the Railways Department: -Ninety of,ifhe
applicants had riot reached the eligible age
on August 1. The department -would com
municate with the Apprentices Advisory
Board so that the applicants might;-be ad
vised in regard to the outlook in various
trades.
