METALS EASIER.
"Tiie Express" Office, Wednesday.
Cablegrams received from London on
Wednesday snowed an easing in copper of
10/ per ton, the metal being quoted at £62
•5/ buyer. . Tin (spot) dropped to £173 10/
buyer, this being 50/ under previous rates.
Lead hardened to £18 12/6 buyer, while
the buying quotation for spelter aclvauced
20/, in £3.9.
Trading on the local Exchange was
quieter than of late, with little change
noted in values. Jn the investment sec
tion Bank of Adelaide had 45 shares ex
change at £6, and Melbourne Electric (or
dinary), ex rights, at 37/6. .South Aus
tralian Gas (new) were wanted at £5 S/,
Adelaide Electric (ordinary) at £9 13/, and
Oastlemaine Brewery at 19/9, but sellers
were too wide apart to effect trade. Sales
were reported "in Electric Light and Power
(ordinary) at 28/6, while £139 10/ was of
fered for Debentures. Zinc lines were
quiet, but firm. Zine Corporation (ordi
nary) firmed to 13/9. In copper Mount
Lyelis were exchanged at 24/. Hampdens
were wanted at 23/, and Mount Morgans
offered at 44/, without buyers responding.
In silver stocks, Broken Hill Proprietary
hardened to 37/3, and old British were
slow at 24/44. South (paid) were sold from
£6 11/ to £6 12/6, while contributors ad
vanced 1/3, to £6 4/3. The mill recoveries
during the past six weeks in the South
mine, were 7S per cent. lead. 58.6 per
cent, silver, and 1-3.5 per cent. zine. Most
of the development was done below the
970 level. The rise from 1,170 level
Showed ore worth 15 per cent, lead, 3.9
oz. silver, and 1 3.3per cent zinc at 312
ft. The north-east erosscnt on the 1,270
level, was in ore going 13.1 per cent, lead,
6.8 oz. silver, and 15.6 per cent. zinc.
Norths supplied moderate business at 41/
to 41/3. fn gold Commodore, Edna May
Central, and Mararoa were a turn firmer,
while Golden Ridge and Lake View Stars
remained unchanged. Edna May were
taken at £8 5/6, showing a rise of 4/3
on Tuesday's closing.
