A Magistrate Terrorised.
Life Twice Attempted.
LONDON, June 3.
The late Sir Henry Curtis-Bennett, the
distinguished magistrate, •whose death oc
curred sudden]}' on Monday, always
dreaded the suffragette. He told a solici
tor, just before his death, • that while he
was walking at the seaside last week one
of two women seized him and endeavored
to throw him over the cliffs. They were
unsuccessful, however, and when another
person came in sight they both fled. It
will be remembered that early last month
the suffragettes sent htm a bomb through
the post, but the nature of the parcel was
■detected before any harm was done.
