THE IMPERIAL CLUB AND THE
GOVERNING BODY.
FURTHER COMPLICATIONS ARISE.
THE SEASON’S PROGRAMME.
A meeting of the Ballarat Football
Association was held at the Unicom
Hotel last night, Mr A. B. Berry pre
siding. There were also present—
Messrs A. A. O’Dea, It. Nanscawen
(South), G. M'Kenzio and G. Williams
(Imperial), W. Klswortli and R. J.
M'Vitty (Ballarat).
After tlio minuter had been con
firmed, Mr R. Nanscawen referred to
the vote of £l5 towards the rent of
the Eastern Oval which was passed bo
the Imperial Club at last meeting. He
said ho was not present at that meet
ing. He would like to know if the
South and Ballarat players would be
allowed to train on the Eastern Oval.
Some members of those clubs might
wish to train at the Eastern Oval, as
it might he nearer to their homes.
Mr M'Kenzio said that that was a
matter for referring to the Town Coun
cil.
Mr G. Williams—We have only rent
ed the Eastern Oval for seven Satur
days, with special permission given to
our players to train there.
Mr Nanscawen—l am instructed by
my club to .oppose the grant of £l5
being made to the Imperial Club unless
our players are allowed to train there.
It will be my duty to give notice of
motion to that effect.
Mr O’Dea—Wo should understand
whether we are to pay that money to
the Town Council or to the Imperial
Club. We would bo paying rent for
two grounds, and under those circum- I
stances are entitled to have the use j
of both grounds for training all asso
ciation player*.
Mr M'lyenzie—That £l5 was voted
to us straight out. It was not speci
fied that it was for rent.
_ Mr O’Dea—l wish to ask Mr M'Ken
aio, through tlio chairman, whether
there is a clause in the lease of the
Eastern Oval preventing South and
Ballarat players from training on that
ground.
Mr M’Kenzie—l haven’t seen any
lease yet.
Mr Nanscawen then gave notioe that
he would move at next meeting that
the grant of £l5 mode to the Imperial
Club by the association at the last
meeting bo annulled unless permission
be granted for all association players
to train at the Eastern Oval if they
wish.
Mr Nanscawen also gave notice of
motion that in future no sums of money
bo voted from the association funds, ex
cepting ordinary expenditure, unless
notioo of motion be given, and special
notioe be given to each delegate.
Correspondence— From tlio Town
Council, accepting the association’s pf
fer to sell the Eastern Oval turnstiles
at £2O.
This closed the past year’s business,
and the annual meeting was then
opened.
The annuarFlllanco sheet showed that
the receipts were £219 12s, made up
chiefly of members’ tickets, £B4 17s 6d;
proceeds of matches, £55; club officers’
tickets, £35; proceeds of booth, £l7
10s; while the expenditure was £216
8s 9d, consisting principally of rent of
Eastern Oval, £6O; expenses League
match, £3O; labor and material at
Oval, £24 15s: turnstiles, £23 10s;
printing and advertising, £22 15s Sd;

statement showed that the balanco in
the bank was £9l 6s 3d.
The president., in referring to tho
work of tho past season, congratulated
the association on the successful year
just closed. The season’s football com
petition had been a most interesting
one, and the football shown had been
of the very highest standard. For the
first time in the history of senior foot
ball, the three clubs constituting the as
sociation were out of debt, and this was
a most gratifying feature of the year 1 6
operations. The association, too, was
able to present a good balance sheet.
He was pleased to see that the dele
gates were taking up tho work of en
couraging football in State schools.
These were a portion of our football nur- j
series, and an impetus given to tho
game with t-li.e youngsters would have its 1
effect for good on the seniors. An- |
other gratifying feature of last year’s
football was the fact that not a single
senior footballer had been brought be
fore the association for unsoemly con
duct or rough play. He trusted that
the coming season would be an inter
esting one, and that delegates would
put tho true interests of football before
tho interests of any individual club.
