BBIAIiWOOD SCHOOL.
The annual distribution of prizes in connec
tion with the Briarwood School was held in
the Sc. Peter's Town Hall on Wednesday
evening, when there was a very large atten
dance, presided over by the Mayor of St.
Peters (Mr. A. S. Cheadle). A programme of
vocal and instrumental music was carried out
under the direction of Miss and Mr. T. W.
Lyons, and included piano S0I03 by the Misses
Frost and Richards, and a duet by the same
young ladies. The -well-known cantata " Snow
White'' was very well sung by a number oE
voices, the chief characters being taken by the
Misses Richards, Phillipson, Jackson, Ey,
Hunter, Patterson, and Gunner.
The Chairman, before distributing the
prizes, heartily congratulated Miss Suding on
the success of the work of the past year, and
was sure she deserved every good wish for
the future.
The prize list was as follows t—
Fifth class—Florrie Jackson, botany; Maud Hunter,
highest number of marks regular attendance in senior
division. Theory of musio (presented by Mr. Lyons),
F. Jackson.
Fourth olass—Addis Gunner, spelling; Emily Ey,
perseverance; Gerty Phillipson, general improve
ment; Muriel Frost, highest number of marks;
Minnie Richards, mental arithmetic, reoitatiou;
Otelia Wilson, botany ; Artless Patterson, home work;
Muriel Frost, music (presented by Miss Lyons).
Third olass—Cyril Toliey, highest number of marks
spelling ; Hannah Jaokuon, mental.
Second olass—Floriie Hunter, highest number of
marks homework; Lily Ekins, tirst recitation ; Mabel
Clark, copybook; Gladyd Toliey, second mental;
Eddie Broadhenc, first mertal; Lennie Dobbic,
tecond reoitation ; Rupert Trudeeu, sp-lliog; Jennie
McAnna, sewing (presented by Mrs. S. O. Toliey).
