WILUAMSTOWN RACES.
^ MELBOURNE, June 2S.
Gold but fine weather prevailed on the occasion
of the winter
meeting
of the Williamstown
Racing Club on Saturday, when the prospect of
seeing the Grand National candidates under silk
attracted a large attendance.
The Hurdle Race
was won by a 5 to 2 favourite' in Marmont, who
beat the Beld in a canter.
The' Steeplechase feil
to Miner, a 5 to 1 chance.
Syringa was 'backeJ
at 7 to 2, but finished out of a place.
The
Jumpers' Flat Race resulted, after a fine finish,
in a dead heat between Wait-a-bit' n. and Quo
Vadis.
In the run off Quo Vadis was moss
fancied at 5 to 4 on. but Wait-a-bit II. won by
tliree lentghs. Details:—
