BRITISH LABOUR
TROUBLES.
London, October 6.
The Executive Committee of the Employers
Federation has resolved that the condition
of the engineering and allied trades does not
admit of any reduction in the hours of labour;
that it is necessary to secure for the owners
the absolute freedom of management ot their
own works; and that the intervention of third
parties would be useless.
Twenty-one firms, principally ship-repairers
J the Thames, have joined the Employers'
£ ©deration.
The Railway Servants' Congress has granted
the strikers the sum of £300 a week from its
funds until a settlement is arrived at.
The majority of the employers in the
Cotton-spinners' Association are in favour of
making a reduction of 5 per cent, in the wages
paid to mill-hands.
