ELECTION MATTERS.
The Gommoawealth Electoral Officer
for the State desires to direei attention
to the compulsory enrolment provisions
of the law which require that:—
(1) "Every person who is entitled
to have his name ipiaeadl on the roll for
any sub-division, whether by way of
enrolment or transfer, or change ctf enrolment.
and whose name is not on
such roll,- shall forthwith, after he has
lived a period of one month within that
sub-division, £11 in and sign in accordance

an electoral claim, on the form prescribed,
and send or deliver such electoral
claim to the Electoral Begistrat
for the sub-division.
"(2) Any person who is entitled to
have his name placed on the roll for
anv sub-division, and whose name is
not on any such roll, and who fails
within a period of twenty-one days from
the date upon which he became entitled k
ro have his name placed on such roll,
to send or deliver to the Electoral Ee<ristrar
for such sub-division, a form ot
electoral claim, duly filled in and signed.
in accordance T<rith the regulations,
shall be guilts- of an offence, and liable
to a penalty not exceeding; two pounds,
provided, however, that the penalty in
the case of a first offence snail not exceed
ten shillings."
Persons eligible for enrolment upon
a Commonwealth roll should satisfy
themselves that their names- appear
upon the roll 'for the eub-division in
which they reside. It is to be noted
•that "proceedings are about to be taken
in respect to all persons who bave faded
to comply with the requirements of
the law.
