Floods Hit
Gold Fields
PERTH, Sunday. — Homes
were flooded, fences swept
away, and roads and- railways
blocked when a' cyclone hit

inches of rain fell in the Kal-
goorlie goM fields area.
Twelve new houses in South
Boulder were inundated and
fences washed away. The loss
is estimated at several thous
and pounds.
Flood waters were half a
mile wide and waist deep
late to-day, and people were
being removed by the police.
The centre of. the cyclone,
which 1$ estimated to be 200
miles to the north, is expect
ed to reach Kalgoorlie to-mor
row between 10 a.m. and
noon.
Residents are . alarmed , be
cause the storm centre Is ex
pected to pass close to the
town. .
Rainfall in Kalgoorlie was
so heavy to-day that the rain
gauge was put out of action.
Storm warnings were Issued
during the wek end as the cy
clone veered outside the coast

curving inland, headed to
wards Wiluna, bringing, rain
and disrupting - communica
tions. Many centres were Iso
lated.
