Three Riders Injured
in Speedway Crash
Three motor cyclists were injured, one critically, when their
machines became entagled and crashed during a speed trial at
Bacchus Marsh speedway yesterday.
They were: — Ronald George
Sault, 22 years, Erin-street,
Thornbury, admitted to the
Royal Melbourne Hospital with
a fractured skull, and frac
tured ribs.
Allan Hopkins, 18 years,
Munro-street, Ascot Vale, ad
mitted to the Royal Melbourne
Hospital with a fractured leg,
abrasions and shock.
Peter John Moore, 18 years,
Zetland-road, Mont Albert,
treated for hand Injuries,
shock and abrasions.
The crash occurred before a
large crowd. It was caused
when the wheel of one motor
cycle struck the rear of an
other cycle.
While toe crowd watched
tensely, a third- motor cycle
became entangled and the
three careered across the track
and crashed.
Struck by Cars
William Galley, 10 years,
Alfred-street; . Caul field, .was
seriously Injured on Saturday
when he was knocked down by
a car near his home. He was
admitted to the Children's
Hospital.
Knocked down by a car In
Abbotsford-street, North Mel
bourne, on Saturday night, Mr;
John Ritchie, 26 years, of Har
ris-street,, North Melbourne,
received head Injuries. He was
admitted to toe Royal Mel
bourne Hospital.
Car Overturns
GEELONG, Sunday. — Two
men - were Injured when a
motor car overturned on' toe
Barwon Heads road late on
Friday night. They were:— Al
bert Currie, 20 years, of Fitz-
roy-street. East Geelong, and
Ronald Flack, 21 years, of
Fyans-street. South- Geelong.
Both men were admitted to
Geelong Hospital early on Sat
urday.
Motor-Cycle Crash'
Mr. William Richardson. 48
years, of Klngsville-street, West
Footscray. suffered a fractured
leg on Saturday night when his
motor cycle collided with a car
in St. KUda-road. He was ad
mitted to Prince Henry's Hos
pital.
Mr.' Glenvllle Ford, 23 years,
Monash-avenue, Balwyn, had
a leg fractured on Saturday
night when his motor cycle col
lided with a car In Heidelberg-
road, Fairfield.
He was admitted to St. Vin
cent's Hospital.
Three in Crash
Three persons were Injured
when a motor cycle outfit over
turned in swerving to atoid
collision with a motor car at
the Intersection of Banksia-
street and Lower Heidelberg-
road, Heidelberg, last night.
. The victims, all of Malvem-
road, East Prahran, were: —
Barry Thompson, 5 years, frac
tured leg, abrasions, lacera
tions and shock. Admitted to
Alfred Hospital.
Mrs. Agness Thompson, 34
years, shock. Treated at St.
Vincent's Hospital, and de
tained for observation.
Miss Myra'McBrlde, 23 years,
abrasions. Treated and allowed
to go.
Hospital Deaths
A man and woman injured
In earlier accidents died In St.
Vincent's Hospital on Satur
day.
