# Women's Section
Garden Party at
Parliament House
In honor of the fourth Law Convention, the
State Government entertained about 600 guests,
including members of the Law Council of Australia
and delegates to the convention, at a garden party
at Parliament House yesterday afternoon.
In the absence of the Pre
mier and, Deputy Premier,
guests were received in
Queen's Hall by the Attorney-
General (Mr. Oldham) and
Mrs. Oldham, the president
of the Law Council (Mr. E. R.
Reynolds, K.C.) and Mrs. Rey
nolds, the. President of the
Legislative Council (Sir Clif-
den Eager) and Lady Eager,
and the Speaker of the Legis
lative Assembly (Mr. Maltby)
and Mrs. Maltby.
The Governor (Sir Winston
Dugan) and Lady Dugan at
tended, and included in the

noon tea with them, were the
Chief Justice of Victoria (Sir
Edmund Herring) and Lady
Herring, the Chancellor of the
University (Sir Charles Lowe)
and Lady Lowe, the Leader of
the Opposition (Mr. Cain) and
Mrs. Cain, the Minister for
Health (Mr. A. A. Dunstan)
and Mrs. Dunstan, the Minis
ter for Agriculture (Mr. A.
H. Dennett) and Miss Diana
Dennett, the . Minister for
Housing (Mr. A. G. Warner)
and Mrs. Warner. '
With her lightweight wool
ensemble of navy blue dress
and long coat, Lady Dugan
wore a wide-brimmed white
straw hat slashed back with
broad bands of navy ribbon.
Her shoes and hand bag were
navy also, and she added a
corsage of white gardenias.
Mrs.- Oldham's dress and
short jacket of mist-blue wool
was offset by a small brown
felt hat finished with match
ing blue pompons, and her
accessories were brown.- Mrs.
Reynolds's unusual suit of soft
olive-green wool had a bellboy
jacket, multi-gored skirt and
bodice front of tangerine vel
vet matching her sideways-
pulled velvet tarn.
A grey suit with lapels of
grey Indian lamb was chosen
by Mrs. Cain. Her tan felt
beret was also trimmed with
grey lamb, and her accessories
were tan.
Afternoon tea was served in
three marquees on the lawns,
and guests were glad to shelter
there for a while from the
unpleasantly gusty wind.
Music was supplied by the
Public Service Orchestra.
Among those noticed were
Mr. Justice Gavan Duffy and
Mrs. Gavan Duffy, Judge
Book and Mrs. Book, Sir Wil
liam Angllss and Lady Angliss,
Sir George Knox, Sir Frede
rick Mann and Lady Mann
and their son and daughter-
in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Alan
Mann (both of whom are
practising members of the legal
profession) ; Mr. and Mrs.
George Reld, Miss Maud Pitts,
Miss Molly Winter, Mr. and
Mrs. O'Dell Crowther, Mr.
and Mrs. J. Beacham Kiddle,
Mr. and Mrs. H. Winnecke.
