to 20'- Easier
Excepting for heavy weights, the general tone of
the fat bullock market at Newmarket yesterday was
10/ to 20/ cheaper. Best calves were firm, while
inferior sorts were easier.
Although the offering at 1855
was an Increase of 360 on last
week, quality was not up to re
cent standards. Most of the
additional cattle were middling
and secondary.
With the exception of heavy
bullocks, which were lightly
supplied, and which did not
show much alteration in value,
morning sales were easier to
10/ lower, while in the after
noon values receded to 20/.
A pen of eight Herefords
from Brentwood estate, Kor-
umburra, topped the market
with an average of £26 6/,
selling to £27 10/.

FAT CALVES. — In the penning
of 1583 (260 more), only a limited
number of prime cattle was
yarded, and these met with a
ready sale at late rates. The great
bulk of the offering, however,
which was showing signs of the
dry conditions existing through
out the State, was of Inferior
quality, and sold at cheaper
rates/
Prime light veal sold to 70/ per
100 lb., heavy to 66/. .
STORE CATTLE.— Values for
growing cattle were 10/ to 15/ a
head lower In the store yardB, but
older cattle were unchanged. The
offering of 247, ' the smallest for
some months, comprised mostly
one and two year old steers and
heifers. "
Porkers Recover-
Porker values at Brooklyn pig
sales yestarday recovered the 6/
fall of last week on a yarding of
540 (20. more). Store prices were
unchanged, while calves firmed 10/
to sell at record prices for all
time . Poddy calves of less than
100 lb. In weight sold to £5 8/6.
