OF JAPAN"
Points Taken in
Pacific
WASHINGTON, May 2 (A.A.P.).
. The seini-offlciai 'Army and
Navy Journal" says American
forces have occupied certain
points in the Pacific, details of
which are withheld from the pub-
lic. It adds: "The encirclement
of Japan is In progress of com
pletion. A ring is being drawn
around the enemy empire from
Dutch /Harbor via Midway,
— ImWunT Canton Island, the En-
derbury, Elllce, Samoa, Fiji
islands, the New Hebrides, Guad
alcanal, Solomons and New Cale
donia.
"Another arc is furnished by
the Eastern tip of New Guinea
and Australia, and a third arc by
China and Burma. These base's,
coupled with the undisclosed ones,
leave Japan's only outlets through
Russia and the seas opening on
the Indian Ocean."
Major Eliot states In the New
York "Herald-Tribune" that the
Initiative In the Central Pacific
has passed into American hands.
He also refers to encircling move
