Many Bases
Attacked
LONDON, Oct. 28 (A.A.P.).
The Air Ministry announced to
day that Bomber Command Mos
quitoes at daylight yesterday at
tacked from a low level the ship
building yards at Flensburg,
40 mile's north-west of Kiel, set-
ting fire to a medium-sized vessel.
Objectives in- Belgium and Hol
land were also bombed.
Fighter Command Spitfires at
tacked goods trains and other tar
gets . in northern France. A
Coastal Command Beaufighter
while patrolling the Bay of Bis
cay destroyed a Junkers 88. Two
R.A.F. fighters are missing.
The Spitfires covered an area
from Cap Grlsnez to Cap de la
Hague. One squadron shot up
warehouses .and storehouses, and
machine-gunned the concrete
pillbox on top of a cliff. Others
attacked goods trains and electric
pylons. A single Spitfire later at
tacked and hit a dredger off Os-
ICI1U.
According to the Milan news
paper "Popolo d'ltalla," the re
cent R.A.F. raid on Milan caused
. 30 large and 300 small fires, in
ten of which economic or Indus
trial targets were involved. Bombs
also, .hit two' hospitals, 51 schools,
a university and several churches.
Bombs on Hong
Kong
German Radio broadcast a
message from Tokio, which stated
that Hong Kong had been again
attacked from the air, this time
by eleven United States, planes.
The announcer added that
Japanese fighters and anti-air
craft batteries drove, off the
raiders, which were , able to drop
only a few bombs. One plane was
shot down.
Japanese Activity
A communique issued by the
United States Air Force in New
Delhi stated that a strong force
of Japanese bombers and fighters
attacked American air fields in
the Dibrugarh area, the head
quarters of the Lakhimpur dis
trict, in north-eastern Assam, on
Sunday, destroying or damaging
several transport aircraft on the
ground. Two of the raiders were
shot down. One American fighter
was lost.
