GANDHI ALTERS
HIS VIEWS
NEW DELHI, June 21 (A.A.P.),
Mahatma Gandhi, in a letter to
the Chinese leader, Marshal Chiang
Kai-shek, states that he favors of
fering effective resistance to the Axis
rowers ana giving an possroie aid to
China to beat down Japan if India is
granted Independence.
This is believed to be a new de
parture from Gandhi's creed of non
violence. He almost relinquishes his
I demand for the withdrawal of the
1 British army in India. There is an
| impression that Gandhi's discussions
I with Pandit Nehru and Mr. Azad, the
Indian Congress leaders, have had a
sobering effect on him.
