fcVOTtlATION FEAT
NEARS ITS END
Despite ceaseless difficulties due to
enemy pressure the embarkation of Allied
troops from the Dunkirk region continued
throughout Monday night, according to
yesterday morning s rrench communique.
With comparatively Few men still ashore, the epic
evacuation is practically completed. Men from the war
ships have cycled round the shattered streets of the
smouldering town rounding up the stragglers.
London, Paris and Moscow each have a different reaction to
the question of whether Italy will enter the war. While in Paris /
Italy's belligerency is. regarded only as a matter of time, in London
opinion is open, and in Moscow the reaction is one of contempt
for Mussolini's "bluffing." .
Hitler's next move is expected by Hermann Rauschning, a
former Nazi President of the Danzig Senate, to be an assault on the
Somme-Aisne line in an endeavor to break through and capture '
/Paris, thus carrying out the notorious Schlieffen-Moltke plan and
thrusting the French armies back on the Maginot Line.
;7:;"7 American opinion has' been; roused by
grim reports of the bombing of; Paris and
photographs of streets, littered with dead
civilians. The reaction has been to intensify
the confusion which exists and- cause grave
doubts as to whether material- aid can be
given to the Allies in time to be truly
effective. 7/7:
