HUGE CROWD
Watches Last Night's
Wrestling
- SYDNEY, Thursday. — Never in the
history of amateur boxing and wrestling
events in Australia, has the stadium been
so . crowded as it was to-night, when the
finals in the British Empire Games of
the baxing and wrestling contests were
decided.
. At 7.30 p.m., when the wrestling com
menced, a huge crowd was present. Only
four wrestling finals were decided. Three
Australians appeared, and each won,
Australia thus gaining six out of seven
championships. Popular . Terry Evans,
the holder of the middle-weight cham
pionship of the British. Empire, retained
his title after a- close contest with Speas-
by, of South Africa.
The outstanding wrestler for Austra
lia to-night was the Olympian Scarfo,
who threw his opponent after wrestling
for only 2 min. 67 sec. Greenspan, his
opponent, was thrown so heavily that
he had to receive ambulance attention.

Middle Weight.— T. Evane, 12.5% (Canada),

Africa), -in 2.57.
Heavy Weight.— J. Knight. 15.1 (Auat),
