Mr. II. B. LEE.
The funeral of the late Mr. H. B. Loe,
former chief officer of the Metropolitan
Fire Brigade, took place yesterday after
noon at the Melbourne General Ceme
tery, and was headed by 140 firemen,
representing the 42 city and suburban
stations. Deputy Chief Officer J. Kemp
represented the chief officer (Mr. J. T.
Wilkins), who is in hospital recover
ing from an operation. Six firemen who
had fought many fires under the per
sonal leadership of Mr. Lee, marched
beside the coffin and carried it to the
grave. A service was conducted at St.
Peter's Church, Eastern Hill, by Rev. F.
Maynard, while tlie service ot tho grave
was read by Rev. C. Cheong. The
arrangements were carried out by A. V.
