BAFJRIER TROUBLES.
"Faking of Books" Alleged.
BROKEN HlltL.— At a special meeting,
of the Workers' Industrial Union of the
Barrier district, the only matter disposed
of was the report of Mr. Willis in con-
nection with the recent charges made by
three members against three other mem
bers of the organisation regarding the
"fairing!' of books. In connection with
two charges made against one of the mem
bers, Mr. Willis found that the charges
were justified. On the third, and more
serious one, Mr. Willis found that the
charge had not been proved. Tlie follow
ing resolution was carried almost unani
mously: —
That thk meeting, having heard the whole of
the evidence given at the inquiry, entirely (tip-
agree with the findings of Air. Willis, and ir
satisfied beyond all doubt thnfc every charge has
been proved to tin? satisfaction of tlie members
of thin branch.
IJjc motion, in its originial form, re
corded the appreciation of the members
o£ the way in wliiuh Air. Willis had
conducted the inquiry, and of his absolute
honesty of purpose. But. at the request of
Mr. Willis, the mover agreed to withdraw
that part of the motion.
After the ma9s meeting on Sunday Air.
O'Reilly, secretary, aud Mr. Hughes, as
sistant secretary, handed their resigna
tions to the president (Mr. Bail). Air. Bail
a6kod them to carry on until Tuesday
night, when a general meeting will be
held, aud they agreed to do so.
