Midland and
Swan
TO THE EDITOR
Sir,—It was certainly refreshing
to read and to know that someone
else was of the same mind as myself
with reference to the Midland Junction
Council being taken over by
the Swan Road Board. I would like
to know for one, what the Midland
Junction Council can show that
they have done, in the West Ward
for 33 years of rates, particularly
in Holmesdale-rd., which
is being powdered from one end to
the other, or from the saw mill to
the dump, with sawdust to fill your
eyes, from a large motor truck with
no back board or cover. WHAT
NEXT?
A coal dump has been allowed
to be made on the south side of
the main road opposite to Kents
Garage. Two men shovelling coal
into a mechanical contraption
which carries the coal up to a
height of about five feet above a
railway coal truck where it topples
in, the fine dust from the coal
blowing across the footpath. No
wonder that someone with a brainwave
decided that the Queen should
be driven at top speed through the
town in case Her Majesty was
caught in a smoke barrage at the
Post Office crossing by a M.R. shun
ter puffing out a Saturday morning
issue of black smoke.
Have we no redress?
Yours etc.
