FOR FRANCO
NEW YORK, Aug. 24 (A.A.P.).
The United States has refused
General Franco's request for the
sale of arms and ammunition.
The refusal has followed the visit
of the British Ambassador In
Spain (Sir Samuel Hoare) to
General Franco, during which he
demanded that Spain should
abandon her -non-belligerency In
favor of neutrality.
The "New York Times" points
out that the rejection is one of

States policy towards Spain, and
may - have a greater influence in
swinging Spain to Allied align
ment than Sir Samuel Hoare's
talk to General Franco.
