Grew Returns to
Burning Tanker
-I LONDON, Jan. 18 (A.A.P.).— The
captain and 23 of his crew returned to
Admiralty tanker Wave Victor early to
day in 'a second bid to save their ship,
; which had been ablate in Bristol clian-
; Mel for more than nine hours.
Tugs which sped to the
tanker's rescue got the
fire under control and the
crew secured, towlines to
two tugs.
. At dawn the Wave Vic
tor (8128 tons), was' on
her way to Swansea,
While a third tug sprayed
.the tanker to keep the
fire aft under control.

five-hour battle against
the flames.
Earlier 35 of the crew

rescued by lifeboat.

Tugs from many points
along the coast began ar

tackled the flames.
About two hours later
the blaze, which had
been clearly visible on the
North Devon coast nine
miles away, subsided and
the captain and his men
returned to get the ship
to port.
