Caulfield's Best
May be Bidwell

Bidwell, in the first division of the Matrons'
Handicap for three-year-olds, looks Caulfield's best
for the' Valley meeting tomorrow.
He has done little racing,
but, with the experience
gained last Saturday, should
be at his top;
Tracks were bad on Tues
day and he did striding work.
Yesterday . he went verv well
ever three furlongs In 36 sec.
on the outside grass.
Proteje is a place possibility.
He won well at his last : start
and yesterday ran three in
37.
For the first Nursery Mai
den, Durham, stable mate of
Bidwell, is fancied. He gave
a promising display at Wer
rlbee and has done well
since. On Tuesday he ran
five in 1.7," and yesterday
three in 37.
Calcutta ran four in 52 on
Tuesday and three in 38 yes
terday. He is improving. Apos
tle has done plenty of work.
He ran an easy five in 1.9% on
Tuesday and went nicely over
three in 37% yesterday.
Zezette, in the second divi
sion, has- a bright chance.
After strong work on Tuesday
she sprinted two in 25 yester
day. She looks in fine -racing
condition.
' Tudor Gold has a chance.
Yesterday he galloped three in
37%.
Steeple Hope
Jung Bahadur 1b Caulfield's
hope In the May Steeplechase.
After striding on Tuesday he ran
three in 43% and yesterday, after
sound work, three In 41.
Shelford, who generally runs
Ills best at Moonee Valley, may
cause a surprise.
He ran seven In 1.39 on Tues
day and seven In 1.38% yester
day.
For the Hospital Handicap Sun-
haven Is Caulfield's . hope. On
Tuesday he worked solidly over
six In 1.25, and yesterday, on the
tan, ran seven In 1.35%.
Euphony, engaged in the Char
ity Handicap, la fit. Law Case is
coming to hand, but may need a
race or two. He ran three in 40
yesterday.
In the Ward Hlghwelght, Caul
fleld has a formidable trio In Star
Fort, Perm and Bon Adhem.
Although Star Port disap
pointed last Saturday, it would
be wise to give lilm another
chance. He did not work fast
this xveck but Is very fit.
Perm Is a star worker nnd it
Is surprising she has not done
better recently.
On Tuesday she went a strong
six In 1.25, and yesterday a very
smart three In 36%.
Ben Adhem has won three races
from his last four starts, and
goes well at Moonee Valley. He
did striding work yesterday.
