Soviet Bloc
Opposes
Commission
NEW YORK, Oct.- 31 (A.A.P.).
When the political committee
of the United Nations voted to
day to send a special commission
to Korea, Russia announced lnv
mediately the Soviet bloc would
boycott it, because the committee
had not consulted representatives
of the Korean people.
The resolution would empower
the commission to travel through
both the Soviet and American
occupation zones to consult Kor
eans on their desire for the coun
try's future," but the Soviet- boy
cott apparently dashes any hopes
that the commission . would -be
allowed to enter Soviet-occupied
| northern Korea, which is now
barred to almost all "outsiders."
I Closing the debate. Mr. John
Foster Dulles (United States)
said the mere . fact that the
I United Nations would send a com
mission to Korea would consti
tute a step forward which might
1 relieve the expjlUslve situation.
