MEETINGS HELD YESTERDAY
A T the fifth annual meeting of
-the Carnsworth branch Red
Cross yesterday, when Mrs. R. G.
Menzles presided, Dr. Newman
morns gave an enjoyable and in
formative talk on the far-reaching
effects of the Australian and British
Red Gross throughout the world.
The sum of £700 had been paid
into head quarters by this branch,
which, In the opinion of Mrs.
Mcnzies, has been particularly suc
cessful > since its inception. The
committee was re-elected.
AN appeal to extend the work of
-r%- the Brunswick Children's Centre
was made yesterday by the director
of Pre-School Activities of the Free
Kindergarten Union (Miss H. Paull),
when, .she addressed, the annual
meeting of Brunswick Free Kinder
garten. Miss Paull stressed that It
was the: duty of all those who had

wishers' League of St. Vincent's Hos
pital, held in the board room -of
the hospital last night. The presi
dent (Mr. J. A. Campbell, J.P.) pre
sided, and the annual report and
balance sheet for the year was pre
sented by the honorary secretary
(Mr. J. F. O'Neill). Proceeds from
the year'8 work totalled £4546, and
a cheque for . that amount was pre
sented to the Rev. Mother Rectress
by - Mr. Campbell. The past year
was the most successful since the
inauguration of the league ten
years ago.
