Training" operations at Princes Oval yes
terday, although speeded up a little, were
again of a light nature, many players
being content with a Jog around' the
arena to an endeavor to remove the stiff
ness -from' their Joints engendered as a
result of last Tuesday's practice.
Interest naturally centred - in the perform
ances of the newcomers, and' among those to
please the critics were D. Bcauvls, ' a highly
recommended follower from Jeparlt; J. Skin
ner, a pacy wingman' from Bacchus Marsh;
G. Cameron, the Laverton utility player; J»
Yates (Frankston) L. Hill, a forward from
Pascoe Vale; and Hon Cooper's protege, J.
ComarU.
Harry VaUencc whose application for a
clearance to Willlamstown has caused "great
discussion among followers of -the game, made
his first appearanco for the season, and he
received a warm welcome from, all at' club
head quarters. Although easily the veteran of
the side, "Soapy" showed form that nugurs
well for still another successful League sea
son. should ho stay with the Blues.
Bert Butler, who fractured his collarbone
against Richmond last year attended the
rooms, but it ts Ukoly to be some weeks before
ho resumes training as the Injury Is still prov
ing troublesome.
R. Chltty and J. Francis are the only two
old players who have not yet attended train
ing, but they are-cxpcotcd to commence next
Tuesday. The second eighteen will begin prac
tising next Wednesday, March 22. -
Mr. A. Telford has tendered his resignation
as secretary - of the Mornlngton Peninsula
league, and applications are being called tor,
