Young Regan in
Easy Points Win
Former national bantamweight champion,
Young Regan, scored an easy, but unimpressive,
points win over N.S.W. aborigine, Alan Ritchie,
in .their 12-round bout at the Stadium last
night.
. Regan won almost every
round and, although scoring
almost at will throughout,
lacked a knock-out blow.
Highlight of the fight
came in the fourth round
when both boxers fought
back strongly after appear
ing to be on the verge of a
knock-out.
Ritchie scored well mid
way through the round, but
Regan came back to batter
him with both hands.
Ritchie appeared help
less o'n the ropes for al
most a minute, but came
out of a crouching stance
to reverse the positions.
Regan was almost down at
whelmed a badly tiring Rit
chie in the fifth round and
never again seemed likely to
lose.
Regan, attempting to
established himself in the
featherweight ranks, scored
most of his points with a
straight left to the head and
body.
His display was an im
provement from when he
was t.k.o.'d by Johnny Glee-
son in his last- bout more
than five months ago.
