Australians
and Germans
BERLIN, Nov. 3 (AA.P.).
The South Australian Pre
mier (Mr. Playford) told the
Berlin press that Australians
bore no enmity towards Ger
many, and desired a big in-
crease in trade between the
two countries.
Australia would also wel
come German immigrants,
especially technicians, after a
peace treaty had been con
cluded and Germans were
permitted to move' abroad.
He was Impressed with in
dustrial recovery in Western
Germany.
Mr. Playford said that Aus
tralia hoped to export to the
Western zones grains, raw
materials and agricultural
machines.
Shipping facilities at pre
sent were a hindrance, but he
hoped that this could be over
come.
He praised the spirit shown
by Berliners under the Russian
blockade,, and hoped that Aus
tralia could contribute more
aid to the Allied air lift.
