MASTER PLAN
FOR SCIENCE
Minister Seeks
Co-operation
LONDON, Dec. 7 (A.A.P.).
Mr. Herbert Morrison, leader of
the House of Commons,- speaking
at a conference on scientific re
search and industrial planning,
convened by the British Associa
tion, said that by closer associa
tion the Government and science
would speed the common drive for
social advancement. There should
be a master plan for scientists
and experts of every kind.
, The president of the association
(Sir Richard Gregory) said there
was little doubt that atomic ener
gy would be available eventually
for -Industrial service, thus In
creasing the number of mechani
cal' slaves at the disposal of the
-human race.
Professor C. D. Ellis, physicist,
said the period of nuclear chem-
istry was comparable ln possibili
ties, and development with that
of industrial chemistry ln the be
ginning. One immediate effect
would be the widespread availa
bility of radio-active materials of
all atomic weights for therapeutic
uses. These would be manifold.
Their value for research as aids
to tracing biological and physical
processes would be immense.
