Sedon Gallery, 107 Elizabeth-street, pre-
sents the work of an impressionist, who
is yet sufficient of a realist to be im
bued with a sense ot locality. What
ever ,$e does with space and color never
lacks . the saving' grace of rational de

all. outdoor subjects';. : dealing in most
cases with 'Cffects 'or sutillght. " He is
perhaps 'at. his, best .in those . represen
tations of crooked Continental streets,
with their incidental 'Architecture ' and
varied patches of color, such as Rue
Mouftard, Paris, or Place. Bt. Pierre,
Bospel. France.
A brilliant colorlst, this artist' gives
the impression of a, tendency -to let
himself go in. this respect/ but hl$ care
ful _ consideration : of values Invariably
ensures the preservation of.: a true bal
ance in the rclatldnship of one color to
another. Quite a number of Spanish
pictures are shown— peaceful sunlit
cities/ then untouclied by the shadow of
the ruin which has since overtaken them.
A notable example, is The Harbor, Al-
geciras; A 'Moorish- Spanish Town and
A Village in Southern Spain. The Eng
lish landscapes strike a green note as
compared with the Continental subjects,
but .such rapid impressions as The Wal
nut. Tree, Warwickshire and Landscape,
Welford-on-Avon have a definite charm
of sylvan freshness. Paris bridges are
well, represented, notably in' Morning
Glitter. River Seine, and Pont Louis
Phillipe. The exhibition .will- remain
