ARARAT FOOTBALL CLUB.
ARARAT, Saturday.
The annual meeting of the Ararat Foot
ball Club was held on Friday evening,
and was very largely attended, the presi
dent Hr A. T. Wild being in the chair.
The report of the committee showedbhat
last year had been a had one financially,
notwithstanding that the officers had
worked well. This was brought about
through' the heavy cost incurred in get
ting umpires from: Melbourne and the
cost of •r-ecuring the attendance of play
ers from a. distance. The balance-sheet
showed a profit of -1(1. The election of
officers resulted in Mr A. T. Wild being
re-elected president. Dr Matthews ami
Mr P. Carroll vice-presidents, and Mr
W. A. CEaringbold secretary. Mr Wild
offered £3 3s towards a trophy for
matches • between Ararat and Stawell,
and hoped that others would supple
ment the amount. The mayor (Cr Har
greaves) and Mr Wilkinson also promised
£1 Is each. The secretary stated that
if matches could bo arranged between
Ararat, Horsham, and Stawell he knew
of two Ararat gentlemen who would
donate a trophy-of £7 7s.
