China
Peking Delegates
HONG KONG, October 23 (A.A.P).
—Australian and New Zealand dele
gates to China's Pacific peace confer
ence today denied here as "entirely
false" Communist reports that they had
shouted long live Mao Tse-tung
when they were leaving China for
home.
Delegates arrived here
after a month in China
, with what they called
"extremely favorable im-
. pressions." .Delegates are
leaving here by air to
morrow.
Rev. Victor James,
.from the Unitarian
Church, Melbourne, said
he would preach from his
pulpit next Sunday night
on A New World.
Mr. James said : "What
ever misrepresentations
about either what hap
pened at the Peking con
ference or what may be
attributed to Australian
delegates will in time be
proved as such.
"I am interested in
the great experiment
taking place in China.
I am still more inter
ested in helping to es-
. tablish peaceful rela
tions between the peo
ples of Australia and
China.
"When I am quoted as
having shouted yesterday
on Canton railway sta
tion, "Long live Mao Tse-
tung. I must say this is
entirely false.
"I know the Chinese
words for long live peace.
"I certainly . did shout
long live peace and I shall
continue to -shout it in
whatever language " I
know and I shall: . cer
tainly continue, to work
for it:" . "
