for 40 minutes yester-
day, following a power
failure.

after 1p.m. and was re-
tored at 1.49.
A temporary supply of
power allowed the trains
to run for a few minutes
in this period until a
second failure occurred,
iElectric tramway se
vices were, not affected,
but householders In
Footscray, Williamstown
and Altona had their
supplies interrupted.

power was restored at

ning within a few
minutes.
Last night an S.E,C.
spokesman explained that
the breakdown was
caused by a fault which
developed in a high-volt-

the Victorian railways
and some suburbs had
been reduced consider-
