LONDON, June 20
(A.A.P. ). — People on
the Folkestone promen
ade late last night
watched helplessly as a
big twin-engined Con-
vair plane, which had
run out of petrol, crash
landed in the sea
bringing death to three
of the nine people" on
board.
Week-end holidaymak-
ers saw the Convair, its
powerful landing lights
throwing a long white
I beam before it, pancake
on to the sea about a mile
off shore, and its pilot try
to taxi it to the beach.
Watchers heard an
ominous thudding as the
big plane furrowed to the
shore.
Then the lights flickerfed
out and there were rend
ing sounds as the fuse
lage began to break up.
The cries . of the sur
vivors were heard dis
tinctly as boats put nut
hurriedly to the rescue.
Four crew members, in
cluding the stewardess,
and two woman passen
gers were dragged ex
hausted from the sea.
