threatened on Water Com

dismissal last week of a
large number of A.W.U.
members.
The State secretary of the
A.W.U. (Mr. Davis) said yes

such as plant operators and
engine drivers were being used
on jobs normally done by con

were likely to be held up if
it persisted In employing
skilled workers on construc

men had been placed In the
position of accepting work at
lower rates of pay or leaving
the jobs.

homes near their jobs, and
did not want to change.
The projects affected are
the Rocklands - dam, in the
Western District, and water

murkah, Heyfleld and the Ben-
digo maintenance section.
