Sir Earle Page, the Australian-
special representative in London,
addressed a private meeting of mem
bers of all parties of the House of
Commons, including several Mini-
sters, in the committee room of the
House of Corqmons. He dealt with
Australia's position, and was given a
good reception. The United Kingdom
branch of the Empire Parliamentary
Association entertained Sir Earle
Pace at luncheon. Wing Commander
T. W. White, M.P., of Australia, was
present.

palre, has beeri appointed a life go
vernor of St. Vincent's Hospital for
his work ns chairman of the recent
special appeal fund.
A message from London states that
Mr. F. .W. Pethlck Lawrence will
succeed Mr. H. B. Lees-Smith as the
LBbor party's spokesman in the House
of Commons.
The enthronement of the new
Catholic Bishop of Ballarat, Dr. J.
O'Collins, will take place at St.
Patrick's Cathedral, Ballarat, on Sun
day, April 19.
The Victorian Scottish Union has
decided to hold a short Burns memo
rial, service at the Robert Burns
statue, St. Kilda-road, on Sunday
next. The president, Mr. A. Ramsay,
will lay a wreath on the statue, and
Mr. .J. A. Wilkle, of Ballarat, will de
liver a short address. Permission has
been given by the authorities for. the
service.
Two former Scotch College pupils
have been very successful recently in
University examinations. Richard
Henry Dalitz, who is not yet 1.7 years
of nge, and who resides at Bentleigh,
won an esuim-
tion in mathe
matics 1, mathe
matics 3 and 4,
and was in
second place in
mathematics 2.
Hugh Stretton,
a son of Judge
Stretton, of
Kew, won an
exhibition in
British history
and English and
shared an exhi-
bition in European history. H-e also
gained second class honors in econo
mics. Stretton is also a keen sports
man. He rowed in the winning crew
at the Head of the River last year,
and was a member of the . Rugby
team. He is a leader of the Boys'
Club at Fisherman's Bend. He will
probably go to an English university
to study social welfare.

Mr. A. N. Pearce has been elected
acting secretary of the shunters' sec
tion of the Australian Railways Union
in place of Mr. A. J. V. Miller, who
has been appointed to the Railways
Classification Board.
